Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 May 2026
REKOMI LTD ("Rekomi", "we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17219783), based in London, United Kingdom. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Rekomi website and mobile application, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
This policy is provided in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play.
1. Who we are
REKOMI LTD is the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are a company registered in England and Wales, based in London, United Kingdom. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at support@rekomi.co.uk.
2. Information we collect
Account information
When you create a Rekomi account, we collect your email address and a username or display name. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only the basic identifier and email permitted by those services.
Content you create
This includes the places, recommendations, photos, notes, tags, lists, and other content you save in Rekomi. This content belongs to you. We store it so you can access it across your devices.
Location information
Rekomi uses location data only when you actively use a location-dependent feature — for example, to show nearby places on the map or to associate a saved place with its address. Location data is used only while the feature is active and is not continuously tracked in the background. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
Device and usage information
We collect basic technical information about how you use the app — such as device type, operating system, app version, and crash diagnostics — to keep Rekomi stable and improve performance. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand how features are used. We do not use third-party advertising trackers and we do not build advertising profiles of our users. You can opt out of analytics at any time in the app settings.
Cookies
The Rekomi website may use essential cookies and privacy-respecting analytics cookies to improve functionality and understand website usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings. The Rekomi mobile application does not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
Communications
If you email us, we keep a record of that conversation so we can respond and follow up.
3. How we use your information
- To create and operate your account.
- To store, sync and display the content you save.
- To provide location-based features when you request them.
- To diagnose crashes and improve performance.
- To respond to your support enquiries.
- To send service-related communications (for example, a password reset or a critical security notice).
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your saved content with advertisers. We do not show third-party advertising in the app.
4. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the service safe, secure, and improving.
- Consent — for optional features such as analytics or marketing communications, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data by law.
5. Sharing of information
We share data with trusted service providers only where necessary to operate Rekomi. These include:
- Cloud hosting and database providers to store your content securely.
- Authentication providers (such as Apple and Google) if you choose those sign-in methods.
- Crash reporting and analytics providers for the limited purposes described above.
All providers are bound by contractual obligations to handle your data confidentially and only on our instructions. We do not sell or rent your data to any third party.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where they do, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place — such as standard contractual clauses approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office.
7. Data retention & account deletion
We keep your account information and saved content for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting support@rekomi.co.uk, or through the app settings where available. Users may also request permanent deletion of their account and associated data by emailing support@rekomi.co.uk. If you delete your account, your personal data and saved content are deleted within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain information.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, email support@rekomi.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
9. Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Communications between the app and our servers are encrypted in transit. Access to production data is restricted to a small number of personnel and protected by industry-standard controls. No system is ever 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.
10. Children
Rekomi is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@rekomi.co.uk and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to this policy or our processing of your personal data will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at https://ico.org.uk.
